Plesk Tips and Tricks


Plesk is one of popular hosting control panels, it is used by lot’s of hosting companies to provide shared virtual hosting to their customers, it is used by people to automate server management… and it often brings new challenges to system administrators. In this article we collected some useful tips that can help you to “survive” on Plesk. 🙂

1) Login Page shows “Continue” button

Solution – disable SSO

# /usr/local/psa/bin/sso -d

2) Plesk Upgrade error: The following could cause the installation failure: psa-backup-manager: No suitable solutions were found for the “perl(File::Temp)” dependency

Solution – remove psa-backup-manager

# yum remove psa-backup-manager

3) Plesk migration from 9.x to Plesk 10.3.1 – migration manager fails with no error

Solution – upgrade destination server from Plesk 10.3.1 to Plesk 10.4.4

4) Changing IP address for Plesk domains or subscriptions in bulk

Solution – use /usr/local/psa/bin/domain script to update IP addresses for domains

# cd /var/qmail/mailnames # for i in $(ls -1); do /usr/local/psa/bin/domain –update $i -ip new.ip.add.ress; done
